Game 18 Summary
By Gerald Davis
Malcolm Rhett scored 15 of his game-high 21 points in the second half to lead Lower Richland to a 63-45 win over Irmo Tuesday. It was the final game of the Chic-fil-A Classic for both teams.
Lower Richland improved to 5-5 with the win.
“Everybody’s getting adjusted,” said Lower Richland coach Zeke Washington. “The players are getting adjusted to each other; coaches getting adjusted to players and players adjusted to coaches.
“Malcolm saw what we needed him to do in the second half.”
Rhett and that was to go to work inside the lane. Rhett, a 6-8 senior forward, faced a sagging Irmo defense, but found open teammates for easy shots. And when he found room to get offensively, the Yellow Jackets fouled him. Rhett was 9-of-14 from the free-throw line. He also finished with 12 rebounds.
“This tournament is good for us,” Washington said. “It gives us an opportunity to grow.”
Irmo fell to 5-4 and was led by Josh Clinkscales, who had 11 points.
