In 2006-2007, the Wildcats of New Hanover High School won the North Carolina Class 4A State Championship with an overall record of 29 wins and 4 losses. New Hanover has a two year record of 57 wins and only 6 losses. The Wildcats were the Mideastern Conference Champions for the 5th consecutive year and won the Classic I bracket of the Chick-fil-A Classic Holiday Basketball Tournament. New Hanover returns three starters and three other lettermen from last year�s team highlighted by 7�0 senior center Ty Walker, 6�7 senior forward Nick Becton and 5�9 senior guard Rakeem Wilson . New Hanover is coached by Franklin McMillian.

Ty Walker
Ty is a 7�0 nationally ranked senior center who averaged 19 points, 9 rebounds and 7 blocked shots per game during the 2006-2007 season. Ty has a standing reach of 9 feet 5 inches and a wing-span of 7 foot 6 inches. He led his team in rebounding and blocked shots and was selected as the North Carolina Gatorade �State Player of the Year�. Ty has committed to Wake Forest University.

Christ School won the North Carolina Independent Schools Class 3A State Championship last season with a final record of 29 wins and 4 losses. Christ School has won two of the past three NCISAA Class 3A State Championships (2005 & 2007) and was State Runners-Up in 2004. The team returns four starters and three other lettermen from last year�s team. The team will be led by 6�9 senior Miles Plumlee (Stanford), juniors Dee Giger (6�6), Mason Plumlee (6�9), and Lakeem Jackson (6�5) who have all received Division I offers from numerous universities . The �Greenies� are expecting another highly successful season. Christ School is coached by 1984 graduate David Gaines. Coach Gaines has a 10 year career record of 213 wins and 64 losses. He has coached 8 NCISAA All-State players and currently has 4 players playing at the Division I level.

The 2006-2007 basketball season was a highly successful one (25 wins, 4 losses) for the Spartans of Glenn Hills High School. The Spartans won their Region Championship and participated in the Georgia Class 3A State Playoffs. Expectations for the 2007-2008 season are again running high. Glenn Hills returns all five starters from last year�s team including Division I prospects Jerel Stephenson (UNC Wilmington), Chris Reynolds (Campbell), and Reggie Middleton (Winthrop). The Spartans are coached by Richard Wallace whose son Brandon Wallace plays for the Boston Celtics of the NBA. Coach Wallace has been a head coach for 30 years.

Jerel is a 6�4 senior guard who averaged 18 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists per game during the 2006-2007 basketball season. He was selected Region 3 AAA Player of the Year, 1st Team All-Area, and Honorable Mention All-State. Jerel has committed to attend UNC Wilmington next year.

During the 2006-2007 regular season, the Knights of Centennial High School won the Region 6 AAAAA Championship and then finished their season as the Georgia Class 5A State Runners-Up with an overall record of 28 wins and 5 losses. They lost to nationally ranked Norcross High by one point in the state finals. Centennial returns their top 3 starters and 6 other lettermen from last year�s team. The starters include All-State selection junior guard Lorenzo Brown, and 6�7 senior forward Robbie Johnson. As a sophomore, Brown was ranked as one of the nation�s best underclassmen guards. The Knights are looking forward to another successful season. Centennial is coached by Allen Whitehart.

The Wildcats of Logan High School have a rich basketball history in the state of West Virginia. Logan High has won 6 state championships and has been runners-up 7 times including this past year. The Wildcats finished their 2006-2007 season with a final record of 20 wins and 7 losses. This year�s team again has high expectations with the return of 4 starters and 7 other lettermen from last season. All-State selections Jon Bevins (1st team), and Brett Sorrell (3rd team) are again expected to lead the way for Logan. Both are college basketball prospects. Logan is coached by Mark Hatcher who has led the Wildcats to four straight state playoff appearances. He is entering his 8th season as a head coach and has a career record of 110 wins and 67 losses.

Coach Reginald Huff is set to begin his 16th year as a head coach and his second season as head coach of the Gadsden City High School Titans. Coach Huff has a career record of 272 wins and 101 losses. Last season the Titans, in their first year of existence, completed a 28 win 3 loss campaign and won their Conference Championship. Gadsden City made it to the Elite 8 of the Alabama State Class
6A Playoffs. The 2007-2008 Titan boys� basketball team will be an exciting combination of youth and experience. The team will be led by senior forward Jerell Harris.

The Panthers of Paul VI Catholic High School finished the 2006-2007 basketball season with a record of 17 wins and 13 losses in the very tough Washington Catholic Athletic Conference (WCAC) that features several national caliber teams. Paul VI lost in their conference semi-finals to eventual champion DeMatha. The 2007-2008 Panthers return three starters and 4 other lettermen from last season including All-WCAC guard Adrian Mills. Coach Glenn Farello is beginning his first year as head coach of Paul VI. Coach Farello has spent the last 9 seasons as the head coach of Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Maryland. During his tenure at Eleanor Roosevelt, Coach Farello amassed a record of 163 wins and 68. He led his team to 8 straight Regional Final appearances, 4 Class 4A State Final Four appearances, and won the State Championship in 2002. He has coached eight players who have played professionally including Delonte West (St. Joe�s/Seattle Super Sonics) and Eddie Basden (UNC Charlotte/Chicago Bulls).

The Chiefs of Craigmont High School finished the 2006-2007 basketball season ranked 5th in the state with a record of 27 wins and 9 losses. Craigmont won their District Championship and advanced to the Elite Eight of the Tennessee Class 3 AAA State playoffs. The team returns seven players from last season including their leading scorer 6'6 senior guard Terrico White. The team is coached by David Taylor who is entering his 5th year as head coach of the Chiefs.

Terrico White is a 6'6 guard who averaged 22 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals last season. He was selected to the 2006-2007 Best of The Prep Player of the Year Finalist. Terrico was the Best of the Prep Player of the Week after dropping 50 points Millington High School. Terrico is being recruited by numerous Division I universities from around the country.

The Falcons of Tabernacle Baptist Academy are coached by Norris Bain. This year will be the second time Tabernacle Baptist has participated in the Chick-fil-A Classic. In 2006-2007, Coach Bain led the Falcons to the Island Championship and lost in the Quarter-finals of the National Tournament. Returning starters Derek Gaitor and Jared Cartwright are expected to lead the team this year. The Falcons play up tempo and are an exciting team to watch play.

Lower Richland also won their fourth consecutive region title and advanced to the 3rd round of the Class 4A State Playoffs. This year�s Diamond Hornets are expected to be led by returnees Mario Parker, Preston Blackmon and Enrique Wilson. Coach Zeke Washington is beginning his first year at the helm of the Diamond Hornets. He has been the Athletic Director and Head Varsity Girls Basketball Coach at Chester High School the past 7 years. Coach Washington has an overall head coaching record of 226 wins and 117 losses.

Pinewood Prep is the SCISA Class 3A two-time defending State Champions. The Panthers finished the 2006-2007 basketball season with an overall record of 26 wins and 4 losses. Over the past two seasons, Pinewood has an overall record of 55 wins and only 6 losses. Expectations are again high for a three-peat as Pinewood returns -- starters and -- other lettermen for the 2007-2008 season. The Panthers are expected to be led by Milton Jennings, Ryan Steed, and Kenny Manigault. The Panthers are coached by Pat Eidson who is beginning his 18th year at Pinewood (29th overall as head coach). Coach Eidson has led the Panthers to eight state championship titles and five state runner-up finishes during his tenure. Coach Edison has an overall head coaching record of 591 wins and 240 losses.

Jason Powell is entering his sixth season as Head Coach at RNE after serving one season as head coach at Spring Valley High School. His career record stands at 100 wins and 59 losses. Coach Powell is entering his fourteenth season of coaching overall, serving as an assistant varsity/junior varsity coach during his first seven years at RNE. Last season, the Cavaliers experienced their first losing season (10 -15) in over 15 years and failed to make the playoffs for the first time in 12 years. This year's team returns only two starters and a total of five lettermen from last season. Inexperience will again be an issue with year's team; however, there will be a host of talented sophomores moving up from last season's region champion JV team. The Cavaliers will look to restore and rebuild the program back to supremacy as one of the top programs in the state.

The Blue Devils are coached by Jon Richards. Coach Richards is beginning his second season at the helm of the Blue Devils after leading Dreher to a share of the Region 3 AAA Conference Championship in his first season. Dreher returns their top two starters from last season�s team. The Devils will be led by three year starters Kenneth Joyner (6�5), and Case Stiglbauer (6�9) who have led the team in scoring and rebounding each of the past two seasons. Last year�s 6th man, Marquel Goodman, will move into a starting role on the wing this season.

The Hartsville High School Running Red Foxes very much deserve their nick name. When Coach Aric Samuel returned to his alma mater in March 2005 after a very successful stint at Hunter Kinard Tyler High School, he started running his team during the off season to get them ready for his up-tempo style of play. The players were excited about having �Coach Sam� as their new coach and were willing to put in the extra work required to be a winning program. That hard worked proved to be successful this past season, as the Red Foxes went 20-6 on the year while winning the Region 6 AAAA Championship. The Foxes continued their success during the state playoffs by making it to the Lower State Finals. Hartsville returns 3 starters and 4 other lettermen from last year�s team including All-Region performers Jordan Lyles and Jared Marine.

He was selected as the Region 6 �Player of the Year� and was a member of the Class 4A All-State team. Jordan is a three sport star who is a college prospect in football, basketball and baseball.

This year�s team returns 4 starters and 3 other lettermen including their top scorer (Daniel Bailey) and top rebounder (Wilson McWilliams). The Skyhawks are coached by Jimmy Braddock. Coach Braddock, former UNC basketball player and member of the 1982 NCAA National Championship team, has been the head coach at Hammond for the past ten seasons. During his tenure at Hammond, he has a record of 169 wins and 96 losses and won the SCISA Class 3A State Championship in 1999.

Daniel is a 6�3 senior forward who averaged 22 points and 6 rebounds per game last season to go along with nearly 3 assist per game. He was the team�s top scorer and assist leader. Daniel is again expected to be one of the leaders for this year�s team as they try to repeat the success of the 2006-2007 season and again battle for the state championship. He has several Division I offers to choose from.

The Dutch Fork High School Silver Foxes enter the 2007-08 season hoping to continue their success of recent years. During his seven years as head coach, Coach Leon Hogan�s teams have made the state playoffs six times including a trip to the Class 4A State Championship game in 2003. He has compiled an overall record of 120 wins and 56 losses at Dutch Fork. This past year the Silver Foxes posted a record of 19 wins and 7 losses including a trip to the state playoffs. Dutch Fork will return 3 starters and 7 lettermen from last season�s team. The team will again be led by All State player Murphy Holloway.

Murphy is a 6�6� nationally ranked senior forward who averaged 23 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocked shots a game for the 2006-07 season. He was selected All State, All Region and the Columbia Area Player of the Year. Murphy is one of the top 5 players in the state of South Carolina and has numerous D-1 offers from colleges.
