Ridge View gets first tournament win

Ridge View (S.C.) pulled away late in a competitive game Thursday morning against Hammond to win 72-56 in the Classic II Tournament bracket of the 2006 Chick-fil-A Classic. The Blazers held just a 5-point lead with 6:25 to go before building to a 16-point final advantage.

Four players scored in double-figures for Ridge View, led by Brian Quick's 17 points and 7 rebounds.

Daniel Bailey led Hammond with 15 points and 7 rebounds. Teammate Tyler Bailey added 14 points and 7 rebounds.

Ridge View (7-4) is 1-1 in the tournament and plays its final Chick-fil-A Classic game Friday at 2 p.m. against the winner of the Thursday game between Pinewood Prep and Keenan, both S.C. teams. Hammond's final tournament game is at 9:30 a.m. Friday against the Pinewood-Keenan loser. The Skyhawks (6-2) are 0-2 so far in the Classic.
