Game 1 Summary

Richland Northeast victorious in tourney opener

The 2005 Chick-fil-A Classic basketball tournament tipped off Tuesday night with host school Richland Northeast defeating Tabernacle Baptist Academy 70-53.

Cavaliers guard Brandon Bolden led all scorers with 23 points. Teammate Lucas Hargrove posted a double-double with 16 points and 17 rebounds. Hargrove also led the team in assists with six. James Barfield added 19 points.

Tabernacle Baptist, from Freeport, Bahamas, had two players with 17 points each – Dynile Forbes and Kyle Grant.

Richland Northeast (8-0) advances to play at 6 p.m. Thursday against the winner of the Wednesday matchup between Hamilton (TN) and Greer (SC). Tabernacle Baptist (11-6) plays again at 11:30 a.m. Thursday against the Hamilton-Green loser.
