Defending champ Charlotte Christian halts Pinewood rally
Charlotte Christian (N.C.) defeated Pinewood Prep (S.C.) 75-72 Wednesday in the highest-scoring and closest contest so far in the 2006 Chick-fil-A Classic basketball tournament.
Charlotte Christian, a defending Classic champion, got 27 points and 4 rebounds from Damier Pitts. Willis Hall added 13 points and 10 rebounds for the Knights.
The Panthers were led by Milton Jennings' 26 points, 11 rebounds and 3 blocks. Teammates Kenny Manigault and Ryan Steed added 20 and 18 points, respectively.
Charlotte plays host school Richland Northeast at 5:30 p.m. Thursday. Pinewood will face Keenan (S.C.) at 2:30 p.m. Thursday.
