Archbishop Mitty from San Jose jumped out to an 11-point halftime lead and held on to defeat Sumter (S.C.) 60-45 Wednesday in the 2006 Chick-fil-A Classic basketball tournament.

Drew Gordon had 14 rebounds, 10 points and 3 blocks to lead the Monarchs.

The Gamecocks had three players in double-figures: Dontae Middleton (15), Derrick Hastie (12) and Quinn McClendon (10).

Archbishop Mitty moves on in the Classic I Tournament bracket to play at 8:30 p.m. Thursday against the winner of the Wednesday game between New Hanover (N.C.) and Lower Richland (S.C.). Sumter plays again at 1 p.m. Thursday against the New Hanover-Lower Richland loser.
