New Hanover wins Classic I Championship
New Hanover (N.C.) won the Classic I championship of the 2006 Chick-fil-A Classic Friday night with a 72-61 win over Dunwoody (Ga.).
All-tournament selection Ty Walker led the winning effort with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 6 blocks. Guard James Beatty was named Classic I MVP.
Pierre Jordan, an all-tournament team pick, had 16 points, 8 rebounds and 6 steals for Dunwoody.
New Hanover raises its season record to 9-3 after a 3-0 Classic finish. The loss was Dunwoody's first of the season, dropping the team to 9-1.
