Pinewood holds on for first tourney win

In a battle of S.C. teams, Pinewood Prep held off a Keenan rally Thursday to win 63-57 in the Classic II Tournament bracket of the 2006 Chick-fil-A Classic.

Milton Jennings led the Panthers with 23 points and 8 blocks, while teammate David Gaskins added 21 points and 9 rebounds.

Keenan outscored Pinewood 36-26 in the second half but could not overcome the 16-point halftime deficit. The Raiders had two players score 14 each: Brandon Woodard and Rodrick Cannon.

Pinewood (10-1) is now 1-1 in the Classic and plays its final game at 2 p.m. Friday against Ridge View (S.C.). Keenan (2-6) will seek its first win of the event in its final game, set for 9:30 a.m. vs. Hammond (S.C.).
