Lexington Catholic cruises to first-round win

Lexington Catholic High used strong defensive pressure to upend first-year school Blythewood High 69-33 on Wednesday in the 2005 Chick-fil-A Classic.

The Knights (Lexington, KY) held the Bengals (Blythewood, SC) to 31.7 percent shooting and forced 25 turnovers. The Kentucky squad scored 32 points off those turnovers.

Brian Hewitt had 18 points, six rebounds and five steals for the Knights. Taylor Stewart added 14 points and six rebounds.

For Blythewood, Brian O’Neal led the team with 14 points.

Lexington Catholic (3-3) plays S.R. Butler (AL) at 4:20 p.m. Thursday. Blythewood (0-7) plays Bethune Bowman (SC) at 10 a.m. Thursday.
