Athens (AL), Keenan (SC) claim Classic Championships

The Golden Eagles of Athens (AL) led 25-24 at the half and held on to defeat the Trojans of West Brunswick (NC) 54-52 to win the Classic II Championship. Athens was led by 6'8 junior Richard Hendrix who scored 34 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. Hendrix was named the Classic II Most Outstanding Player. Tank Beavers also chipped in 18 points for the winners and was named to the All-Tournament team.

The Classic I Championship was won by local power Keenan High School with a 55-44 victory over Benjamin Mays (Atlanta, GA). Keenan led 22-19 at the half and overcame a second half lead by Mays to win down the stretch with clutch free throw shooting. Keenan's Andrae Belton was named as the Classic I  Most Valuable Player.  Woodmont's Sam Perry was named the Classic I  Most Outstanding Player. Perry scored 104 points and grabbed 27 rebounds in three games.
