Jerell Jamison won the individual matchup as well as the game as Brookland-Cayce downed Myrtle Beach 60-45 in front of a large turnout at the opening game of the Chick-fil-A-Classic at Richland Northeast High School.

Jamison led the Bearcats with 31 points and outdueled Ramon Sessions for much of the night after getting off to a slow start. Matched one-on-one with Sessions for the majority of the second half, Jamison showed his athleticism in keeping up with Sessions on the defensive end as well as using his height advantage on offense to rise over the smaller Seahawk guards.

"We just wanted to stop Ramon's penetration," Brookland-Cayce coach Ricky Bouknight said of Sessions, who had 16 points. "As far as Jerell, they tried some box-and-one on him, but if he plays within our offense, he's tough to guard regardless of what they do."  Myrtle Beach (3-3) suffered its third loss of the season, just one year after dominating Class AAA en route to the state title, and couldn't match the low-post strengh of Brookland-Cayce (4-1).

"(Rebounding) was the big key tonight, along with just finally being able to score at the (offensive) end," Bouknight said.
